My
story started in 1960
on December the 31st, in Sarlat,
Black Périgord,
France. It is known as the Land of 1001 castles and Lascaux
caves. I grew up in a small village not too far away, Saint Amand de Coly, where my parents were farmers. Growing up in this rural, rustic and isolated environment, gave me the love of animals, nature, and walks in forest, especially during the mushroom season. When I was very young, my father taught me all those marvellous things about mushrooms: good places where to find those beautiful boletus; taking them out from the earth; smelling the black truffles of Périgord; recognizing the singing of birds.... Quickly then it was school, high school and college where I received a certificate as a biochemist technician in 1978. For 21 years I worked as a technician in different medical laboratories of analyses, food analysis in Perigueux, Besançon, Brive la Gaillarde in department of Correze. 1990, my house was built in Varetz, 10 km north west of Brive. At the beginning of 2001, I changed job. I am working now in the SILAB Company where I am in charge of my departement. The products we do prepare are for the cosmetic industry. My daughter Helene was born in 1987 in Besançon. In 1994 there was a big change in my life. My new hobby of ham radio was there to fill an empty spot and take me to new places all over the world! In November 1996, for the first time, I pushed the Brive radio club’s doorbell with the help of a ham friend, René F6ABF who I met on the citizen band. It’s on this band I had my first contact with the radio. Already the virus was in me! René, a very good CW operator, prompted me to learn CW, so, I started from there! Laurent, F1MCO (on my left) a very good teacher, was giving electronic courses at the radio club. A few monthes later, on July 4th 1997, I was driving to the exam center of Donges. My objective was to come back with the full license. I got it! - September 26th 1997, I finally got my call- F8BPN. - September 27th 1997, I became member of REF-Union. - April 1998, I became member of the Clipperton DX Club (CDXC). A lot of DXing especially on the HF bands- at first only SSB operating and one year later, back to CW and it became my favorite mode! QSO example on 160 meters with and recorded by F5UKL (set your loud speaker!) I enjoy contesting, SSB and CW a great deal. I enjoy meeting a lot of people and having a lot of radio friends in France and around the world. As of december 2005 I have made more than 30 000 CW QSO out of the 49 000 in the log. My country total is 329 DXCC worked on all bands, but on my special band of interest, 160 meters, I have worked 159 DXCC entities. Visit of the station. -1998, I became involved with the Board of REF19. - May 1999, IOTA expédition Tombelaine Island EU156. - September 2000, I won the « doctorat DX » during the CDXC ham convention in Andorra - 2001, my local HAM association, Corrèze, won the French Champion award. - April 2001, I became the chairman of the department association REF19, not because I wanted it but because the chair was empty! I was elected again in November 2001, 2002 and 2003. - May 2002, chairman and in charge of the national REF-Union HAM congress in Brive. It has been a big success for the association. - September 2002, I came into the CDXC board as the secretary. - September 2002, F8BPN crossed paths with F6ETI thanks to a CW training software class (RUFZ). A few months later we joined together for one most beautiful love story, it ended with a wedding on 2004 jully 17th - August 2005 I became chairman of the REF-Union HF Committee - August 2005 I became the REF HF manager - September 2005 Member of the french delegation for the IARU R1 conférence in Davos (Switzerland) - September 2005 Vice Chairman of the IARU C4 Committee (HF Commitee) All these years, a very sweet friend who is more than 20 years old, Titus, as Titi, as Mr CAT has been my closest friend! He went to the cat's paradise on may 25th 2005 after a 20 years log quite life between harmchairs and sofas... After one year of sadness, two little monters joined us, Kenzo and Maya, two adorable kittens born in may 2006. Life is short and also sweet. Although many of my friends are from the hams all over the world, some of my friends are neighbors and people with whom we celebrate the good times of life. Others interests of mine are drawing, music, flowers arangement, flowers, dancing, and returning to the days of my childhood, gardening... |
